Reasonably complex Access database applications with 5,000+ conversion issues can take in the order of 5 or 6 months to convert manually. However, by using 2SQL that time can be reduced to as little as 2 or 3 weeks of manual work.
Using the in-built tools within 2SQL, conversion project planning can be approached with much more certainty. For example in the 2SQL “Detective” software analysis mode the system can calculate the equivalent number of hours required to perform a conversion manually, using an average time required to fix each conversion issue manually.
From this calculation an accurate assessment can be made of the “cleanup” hours remaining i.e. the small amount of conversion issues that are not able to be resolved automatically.
Empirical results from conversion projects are demonstrating that in most cases when using 2SQL, the total cleanup manual effort required is often well under 10% of the total project. That capability is critical where there are a large number of Access applications to be converted. That is “less is more”, meaning that the smaller the average cleanup time required, the more conversions that will be able to be included within budget constraints.
